Bomb Threat in Halletsville
This week, the Hallettsville Police Department was dispatched to the 100 Blk of S. Main St. regarding a disturbance between a male and a female.On Arrival, an adult male fled on foot toward the courthouse square. Officers pursued the male subject. While on the southeast side of the courthouse, the male subject began to remove a device from his clothing and officers used their taser. The male suspect was taken into custody.
The Adult Male (43) of Vidor had an outstanding parole warrant issued for his arrest. The male was transported to the Lavaca County Jail and was charged with evading arrest/detention, terroristic threat and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The Austin Police Department Bomb Squad was summoned to assist with identifying the device the male discarded. The device was identified as a grenade simulator. The device was safely detonated by the bomb squad.
