LCRA Grant to help upgrade Multi-Sport Field at 7-Acre Park in Flatonia
Flatonia Youth Sports and Events soon will be able to upgrade the multi-sport field at 7-Acre Park, thanks to a $19,805 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of Flatonia. The project includes adding benches, bleachers, a scoreboard and a water fountain to the popular park. The Community Development Partnership Program grant, along with $4,951 in matching funds from Flatonia Youth Sports and Events, will help support Flatonia’s growing youth soccer league and create a more welcoming space for other recreational sports such as flag football. The upgraded field is open to the public seven days a week and welcomes athletes from Flatonia and surrounding areas such as Weimar, Schulenburg, Moulton and Waelder.
The community grant is one of 45 grants awarded recently through LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program, which helps volunteer fire departments, local governments, emergency responders and nonprofit organizations fund eligible capital improvement projects in LCRA’s wholesale electric, water and transmission service areas. The program is part of LCRA’s effort to give back to the communities it serves. The City of Flatonia is one of LCRA’s wholesale electric customers and is a partner in the grant program.
Applications for the next round of grants will be accepted in July 2025.
