Flatonia Fire and Rescue receives surplus military truck

Flatonia Fire and Rescue of Fayette County received a surplus military truck through the Department of Defense Firefighter Property Program. It also received a $20,000 grant that allowed it to purchase a 500-gallon slip-on unit. The Truck will be used as a brush truck and wildland firefighting vehicle with off-road capability. Its high clearance will also allow for water rescues and general utility.
The surplus vehicle will give the department more capacity as its second brush truck. The department will be equipped to handle multiple emergencies.
