Deputies arrest Assault Suspect moments after events are Reported

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports, on this past Thursday, December 22nd at approximately 7:30pm, Sgt. Ryan Meagher and Deputy Holly Smith responded to a domestic dispute in the La Grange area. Fayette County Communications were informed by the victim, who ran to a neighboring house to call 911, the suspect had fled the scene in a red car. Deputies were not given a make, model, or license plate description.
Approximately 6 minutes after the original call was received, Deputy Jared Michalec located a red car in the vicinity of where the assault had occurred. Michalec was able to stop the vehicle and detain the driver who was in fact the suspect in the assault.
After further investigation by Smith and Meagher, Troy Murphy (28) of Victoria, Texas was taken into custody and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. Murphy was charged with Assault of a Family/ Household member.
