Arrest made following Armed Robbery and Pursuit
Yesterday, at approximately 11:25am, the Giddings Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Classic Bank in Giddings. Four armed African American Males robbed an undisclosed amount of Money from an ATM and fled the scene in a 2013 Gray Chrysler 4-door sedan.An Officer spotted the suspect vehicle and initiated a pursuit. As the pursuit progressed, the suspect vehicle passed near Giddings Elementary School prompting a precautionary lockdown of the school out of an abundance of caution.
The pursuit concluded when a tire deflation device was successfully deployed, flattening a tire on the suspect vehicle. The vehicle subsequently crashed near the intersection of CR 226 and the suspects fled on foot.
With the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff's Department, Fayette County Sheriff's Department, and Texas State Police for their swift response and invaluable assistance in apprehending the suspects.
