Statement from the Texas DPS on School Zones

With schools across Texas heading back into session soon, it’s important for Texas drivers to exercise caution in-and-around school zones. Please obey the speed limit and slow down. Follow the instructions of crossing guards and watch for children getting on-and-off school buses.
Always give students extra room and don’t assume they are paying attention to your vehicle. Students are often distracted by mobile devices, listening to electronic devices or by other students, and they may not be paying attention to their surroundings.
Please make safety your top priority when driving and help ensure everyone makes it to school safely.
