Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday afternoon around 1:25pm Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on I-10 W/B at the 662 MM on a 2023 white Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup for Traffic Violations. Upon Contact with Driver several criminal indicators were observed. Smith was given consent to search the vehicle which was occupied by the male driver and a male passenger. While conducting the search Smith observed the spare tire had been tampered with and asked the driver if they had done something with the spare tire and replied "no". Smith scanned the tire with his hand held scanner and observed several bundles in the tire. Smith then placed the driver 34 yr old Everado Luna Guerrero and the passenger 19 yr old Salvador Gamez both of Edinburg under arrest. Both subjects were transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with Felony Money Laundering. Assisting at the scene was DPS K-9 Trooper Zack King and the total Amount of Cash Bundles seized was $199,910.00
