Traffic Stop near Engle

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday Morning around 7:50am Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith Conducted a Traffic Stop on I-10 at the 668 MM E/B near Engle for a traffic violation. While making contact with the driver Smith observed several Criminal Indicators and Smith obtained consent to search the vehicle. During the search a concealed compartment was located in the trunk floor area. Smith located 13 bungles in the compartment that tested positive for Cocaine. Arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center was 22yr old Joshua Joe Rosas of Rio Grande City, Tx. Who was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Assisting Smith at the scene was Drug Interdiction Sgt, Randy Thumann and his K-9 "Kolt", and Deputy Herman Olvera. A total of 11 Kilos of Suspected Cocaine with a street value of $385.000.00 was seized.
