Suspects flee on Foot after a Traffic Stop

Yesterday, East of Weimar, at approximately 2:51 a.m., the West Side Task Force conducted criminal interdiction operations on IH-10. During this operation, an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle, prompting four male occupants to flee on foot.
The individuals were last observed running south from the area. Following an extensive search that involved deputies, K9 units, and a drone, one male was located around 5:00 a.m. K9 Knox from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office successfully located the individual, who was subsequently taken into custody.
The male in custody was identified as the driver of the vehicle and charged with human smuggling and evading law enforcement on foot.
