Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department were called to a structure fire east of Schulenburg. Upon arrival a home was found engulfed with smoke and all occupants were outside and safe. After gas & electricity were shut off one team made entry to the attic while a second made entry to the interior of the home. Fire was located in the kitchen and had just breeched the ceiling into the attic. The fire was quickly extinguished and the home ventilated to clear smoke. The kitchen area was a total loss, the dining and living room sustained heavy smoke damage, but the home was saved. Schulenburg Police Dept., Fayette County Sheriff’s Dept., and Fayette County EMS all responded to the scene.
