Traffic Stop leads to Drug Arrest

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that recently, Deputy Josh Jones initiated a traffic stop on a Honda passenger car on Hwy 71 west of La Grange, for speeding over 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
Contact was made with the driver and several criminal indicators were present during the interaction. When asked, the driver denied consent to search the vehicle.
Schulenburg Police Officer Byron Powe and K9 partner, Semper, were summoned to the scene. K-9 Semper positively alerted to the odor/presence of narcotics located inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search was conducted and Deputy Jones located and recovered approximately 18.42 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms; 4 packages of vape pens, each containing 2 grams of THC oil; 1.553 ounces of marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, and other drug paraphernalia.
Arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana, was 21 year old Gerber Josue Martinez, of Houston. He was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center where he was booked without incident.
We would like to thank the Schulenburg Police Department for their assistance!
