Grass Fire in Fayetteville

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Thursday around 10:58am the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a grass fire on FM 955 near Wecheta Rd. The Ellinger Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Deputies Wesley Arrison, and Joe Gonzales. Upon arrival it as reported a structure was threatened by the Large grass fire. Mutual Aid was requested from the Fayetteville and La Grange Fire departments who also responded to the scene. Assisting at the scene also was Fayette County EMS Medic 2 and EMS 3 Supervisor. The fire was contained and extinguished burning about 22 acres. The cause of the fire is believed to have started from a flare at an Oil well site, there were no reported injuries.
