Update to Murder of Man in Columbus

During the investigation into the murder of Mitchell Levard Austin, the Columbus Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Jose Raul Quezada III, 18 of Columbus, Texas for the offense of Murder, a First Degree Felony. Columbus Police Detectives contacted Investigators with the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, who relayed the information to the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force of the outstanding warrant for Quezada.
Yesterday at about 11:00 am, the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task force tracked Quezada to a hotel in Houston and arrested him without incident. Quezada was taken to the Colorado County Sheriff's Department Corrections Center to await magistration for the charge of Murder.
The Columbus Police Department deeply appreciates the assistance from the agencies involved in bringing Quezada into custody. The Columbus Police Department continues to investigate this case and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
