Man Shot in Columbus

On Saturday Night at 11:30 pm, Columbus Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Walnut Street in reference to gunshots being fired. Upon arrival officers located a victim that had been shot. After further investigation it was determined that unknown suspect(s) fired multiple shots at a male victim. Colorado County EMS was summoned to the scene and took the Victim to the Columbus Community Hospital, where the Victim succumbed to his wounds. The Victim is identified as Mitchell Levard Austin, 37 of Columbus, Texas. Columbus Police Department notified Austin’s family of the death.
