Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Sunday morning around 7:29 am the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call advising a fire at an oil tank storage facility on Vyvjala Lane off St Hwy 95. The Flatonia Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Flatonia PD Officers Trey Tunis, Taylor Amos, and Sheriff Deputy Herman Olvera. Upon arrival it was reported an oil well storage tank was fully engulfed with fire. Assistance was requested from the Schulenburg and Muldoon Fire Departments who also responded to the scene. Fayette County Medic 3 also responded. The fire was contained and extinguished. The cause of the fire is believed to have been caused by a bad gasket om a heater treater. There were no reported injuries.
