Stolen Vehicle recovered near Schulenburg

On Tuesday, December 24, at approximately 3:15pm, Officers were made aware of a stolen vehicle headed westbound on IH-10 towards Schulenburg.
At approximately 3:58 pm, Officers observed the vehicle, a white Chevy van, near MM 676. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver had other ideas. The driver exited the vehicle and fled southbound on foot across IH-10 EB.
Officers gave chase and caught the driver on Huser Blvd. near Kemlon. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Harris County.
Charlie Smith, Jr (50), of Houston, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest or Detention then transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
