Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Thursday afternoon around 1:25pm the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a grass fire on Carmine Cemetery Rd. near Ullrich Rd. The Carmine Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene and requesting assistance from the Ledbetter and Round Top-Warrenton Fire Departments who also responded. The Texas Forest Service was also requested to respond to assist with the grass fire that spread into the brush. The fire was extinguished and contained as units continued mopping up the hot spots and disregarded the Forest Service. Approximately 15-20 acres of grass and brush were damaged by the fire. The Cause of the fire was undetermined at the time of the fire. There were no structures damaged or injuries reported.
