On Friday, March 29th , at approximately 1600 hours, City of Bastrop Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Fisherman's Park for an unresponsive adult male in the water. Several Bastrop Police Officers arrived on the scene with mutual aid received from Bastrop Fire Department, Bastrop County Sheriff's Department, and a civilian member of the community. Upon investigation it was discovered that an adult male's son was struggling in the water when the adult jumped in the water to assist. The son was rescued however, the adult male drowned.
